Slamming is an illegal practice used by some long distance companies. They switch your long distance service over to them without your permission. If you discover you have been slammed there are several steps you should take. First, you should notify the company who slammed you that you will not pay for the first 30 days of service after being slammed, as this is your right. Next, you should have your long distance service switched back to your original company. Last, you need to have a PIC Freeze placed on your line by your local phone company, preventing anyone from switching your long distance service again. Find out more about slamming at the FCC's website, or file a complaint with the fcc. |
